Living in France since 2000.
The unfavourable exchange rate significantly reduced their pension and, at the end of last year, they found themselves in a very difficult situation. They had to borrow money for a major repair to their car, which was essential as they live 5 km from the nearest village. Then their heating system broke down. They no longer had hot water, and the house was freezing cold, with no possibility of taking out another loan to finance the work.
They were heating themselves with portable electric heaters, moving them from room to room, and Ben’s severe arthritis was worsened by the cold. The HBCF was able to replace the boiler and install convector heaters.
